Adult Full-Time Programs Entrance Testing Requirements

To enable students to experience success in the career of their chosen area of training, Green Country Technology Center has established assessment benchmarks for each program available to adult students. Benchmarks directly relate to the Career Profiles set by ACT and WorkKeys.  The benchmarks include pretests in Applied Math, Workplace Documents, and Graphic Literacy within the WorkKeys curriculum. If a potential student needs to improve their score, remediation is available.

Testing opportunities are on Wednesday and Friday at 8:00 a.m. All testing must be scheduled in advance.

Health & Professional Certifications

CareerTech has partnered with the Oklahoma State Department of Health to provide testing at local technology centers through the Health & Professional Certifications Project (HCP).  These tests are offered on Wednesdays and Fridays at 8:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and must be scheduled at least one week in advance with Rebecca Graham at (918) 758-0840, ext. 224.

Before you can test, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. Visit the Health & Professional Certifications Project website to obtain testing rules and requirements for the test you wish to take.  (The test names are located on the left side of the web page.)
  2. Bring a valid, current photo identification issued by government entity within the U.S. (i.e. passport, driver’s license, school-issued ID). This ID must be verified by a GCTC staff member on the day of the test.
  3. Bring any other documentation with you that is required for the test. For example, many tests require a letter of approval from a government agency.
  4. Candidates should call GCTC for testing fees and be prepared to pay.  Payment can be issued in cash, credit card, debit card or money order.
  5. Check in at the Administration office at GCTC fifteen minutes before test time to pay for the test and to have your letter of approval and ID verified.  TESTING BEGINS PROMPTLY at 8:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

LPN Entrance Testing Requirements 

Candidates must have an application on file in the Practical Nursing department prior to scheduling the LPN Nurse Entrance Exam. The Kaplan is used as the LPN Entrance Exam. The Kaplan exam is free to take. However, if a test is scheduled and the candidate fails to show or call to reschedule, a $10 re-scheduling fee will be required prior to scheduling future exams. The Kaplan is comprised of Math and Reading sections. To meet entrance testing requirements, a minimum score of 60% must be obtained on both the Math and Reading. Testing Attempt #2: Off Campus Remediation

Candidates failing the 1st attempt will be assigned WorkKeys Curriculum as required off campus (online) remediation, before being allowed to test a second time. Off campus remediation is free. All assigned lessons and quizzes must be completed, passed, and verified before being allowed to retest. Retesting may be scheduled 2 weeks after the original test date. In the event of a 2nd failure, the candidate will be required to complete a Formal Remediation Plan on campus before testing a third time.

Testing Attempt #3: On Campus Formal Remediation Plan (FRP)

Candidates failing the 2nd attempt will be required to participate in a Formal Remediation Plan. Candidates will be assigned lessons and quizzes to be completed on campus. There is a 2-hour minimum time requirement for each level assigned. Students may schedule time to be in the Flex Center between 12pm-4pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 12pm-8pm Tuesday and Thursday.  There will be a fee of $25 charged for each level assigned on the FRP.  For example: if the FRP requires levels 3, 4, 5, and 6 to be completed the fee will be $100 total. Students must attend the required hours, and complete and pass all assigned lessons and quizzes in the WorkKeys Curriculum to be eligible for a 3rd testing attempt. Retesting may be scheduled 2 weeks after the 2nd testing attempt.

 FREE online tool available to all Oklahomans for use to determine strengths, weaknesses, interests, skills, and work values. Adults and students can take assessments, identify occupations, establish education plans and, ultimately, connect to employers. Resume development is also a key feature in OKCareerGuide. 

ACT WorkKeys Curriculum 

ACT WorkKeys Curriculum helps individuals build the essential career-relevant skills needed for learning, personal development and effective job performance. It’s the only curriculum built from the ground up to align with the WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate® assessments. The ACT WorkKeys Curriculum is available to enrolled students. 

The courses are delivered via a personalized, mobile-based learning management system. The platform delivers a meaningful learning experience and provides users with a customized study schedule and detailed instructional content

Courses available:

  • Applied Math: Builds the ability to apply mathematic principles to problems encountered in the workplace
  • Graphic Literacy: Builds the ability to find, analyze and apply information presented in workplace graphics
  • Workplace Documents: Builds the ability to understand and apply written information presented in the workplace

Career Tech Competency Study Guides

The CareerTech Testing Center works closely with instructors, industry representatives and credentialing entities to identify and develop assessments and assessment preparation materials that are aligned with recognized industry standards.

Study guides are designed to help students prepare for the assessments. Each study guide includes information about the assessments within a content area, the standards upon which each assessment is based, test plans, practices questions and test-taking strategies. Many study guides also include a crosswalk to instructional materials that may be used during instruction or when studying for assessments.

CTTC assessments are directly aligned to assessments needed to obtain credentials that are required and/or valued by industry. Assessments measure how well the student has mastered the content deemed important by industry, and while passing a CTTC assessment is no guarantee of future success, it does provide an indication of whether or not the student is ready for certification or licensure.

ACT National Career Ready Certificate

The ACT National Career Readiness Certificate is an industry-recognized, portable, research-based credential that certifies essential skills needed for workplace success.

This credential is used across all sectors of the economy and documents the following cognitive skills:

  • Problem-solving
  • Critical thinking
  • Reading and using work-related text
  • Applying information from workplace documents to solve problems
  • Applying mathematical reasoning to work-related problems
  • Setting up and performing work-related mathematical calculations
  • Locating, synthesizing, and applying information that is presented graphically
  • Comparing, summarizing, and analyzing information presented in multiple related graphics

Individuals can earn the ACT NCRC by taking three WorkKeys® assessments.

WorkKeys assessments measure real-world skills that employers believe are critical to job success. Test questions are based on situations in the everyday work world.
