Green Country Technology Center (GCTC) proudly announces a remarkable achievement for one of its own. Mrs. Amanda Longan, a Health Careers Certification instructor, has been named the ACTE Health Science Education Teacher of the Year.

The announcement came during the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) Vision Conference, held in San Antonio, Texas.

The prestigious award recognizes educators who demonstrate innovation, leadership, and excellence in career and technical education. Mrs. Longan, who has been shaping future healthcare professionals at GCTC for years, stood out for her dedication to her students, her passion for teaching, and the positive, lasting impact she has made on health science education.

“Mrs. Longan’s work exemplifies the very best of what career and technical education can achieve,” said Roger King, Superintendent of GCTC. “She doesn’t just teach—she inspires. Her commitment to preparing students for real-world success in the healthcare field has set a new benchmark for excellence, not only at GCTC but across the nation.”

Known for her engaging teaching style and tireless efforts to ensure student success, Mrs. Longan has become a pivotal figure in GCTC’s Health Careers Certification program. She works closely with students to build the skills and confidence needed to excel in their future careers.
