The Welding program provides training in the following processes of welding: Shielded Metal Arc, Gas Metal Arc, Flux Cored Arc, and Gas Tungsten Arc welding. Under the direction of experienced professionals, the student will develop skills in the areas of oxyacetylene cutting, CNC plasma, and plasma arc cutting. The student will also study properties of materials and principles of testing, non-destructive and destructive testing, blueprint reading, layout, design and fit up.

Additionally, students learn electrode identification and math applications for welding. Students are required to pass several simulated industrial welder qualification tests for successful completion of this program. The student may then confidently enter the workforce and/or apply credit toward an associate degree and beyond.

State Welding Exam Site

Green Country Technology Center has an AWS Certified Welding Inspector and an Oklahoma State Department of Labor Licensed Welding Inspector on staff.  GCTC administers the State of Oklahoma Welder Certification Test. (STEAM CARD) GCTC is also an Oklahoma Department of Labor approved weld test facility and approved processing site. Individuals interested in taking the State Welding Certification Test can schedule a test date with our Inspector.  Testing Fees are $200 which includes all materials for the test. An additional $25 fee must be paid directly to the Oklahoma Department of Labor, after passing the weld test.  Our inspector can also administer weld tests for individual companies for pre-employment weld testing and welder qualification testing.
