The Carpentry program is designed to teach many different occupations.  The most important thing that students learn is safety.  The students then move on to sit layout, forming, concrete, framing, roofing, exterior finish, insulation, drywall and interior finishing which consists of cabinets, trim, and floor finishes.  The main teaching project each year is a house, custom built, for selected clients in the community.

Students are encouraged to join and compete in the regional and state competitions for SkillsUSA.


Entrance Requirements

  • Enrollment for this career major is open to high school and adult applicants.
  • Applicants must complete an Application for Admissions.
  • High School Applicants must have the written consent of his/her parent or guardian.
  • High School Applicants must receive the approval of his/her local high school principal and/or counselor.
  • Adult enrollment is based upon availability of the program, satisfactory completion of assessment, personal interview, and proof of funding or payment arrangement.
  • A $200 non-refundable deposit is required for guarantee of enrollment for adult students.

College Credit

Through Cooperative Alliance agreements, many GCTC majors are eligible to earn college credit from Oklahoma State University- Institute of Technology.
